Setting up a game with races - help please

If I choose the Earth Alliance, Darloks and the new Sergetti and then set them to computer player and select a different race myself (one I make) will the computer play them + the others it randomly generates - or will this screw it up. To have the computer play the Darloks etc. do I have to just let it randomly select them?? Also, if I create races and then set them to computer controlled will the computer use them?? This confuses me.... am I able to create as many new races as I want to fight? Or are the Darloks, EA and new Sergetti only for me to play?? Someone please explain

If you set them up and tell the computer to control them, the computer will use them to try and crush you.

You can combined creating new races, loading existing empires, and letting the computer randomly select empires all in the same game.

The answer to your first question is yes. If you add custom races set to computer control and also tell it to generate random computer opponents, the computer will play all of them.

In another thread, someone told me that the computer is capable of randomly selecting one of the custom races you installed. This is pretty awesome, isn't it! Not to mention quite a time saver...

So, these custom races are definitely not just for you to play. It would really stink if you didn't get to hear the most excellent speech files part of the Darlok empire.

One thing to keep in mind: if you add in several custom races, you might want to set the number of randomly generated computer empires down to medium. Otherwise, you'll end up with the usual amount of randoms *plus* the extra ones you added in. E.G. it seems like 'high' usually generates about a dozen randoms. In my Last game, after adding in five custom races, there were 17 computer empires out there...
