Question about: Default_AI_DesignCreation.txt
1) Exactly how does the "Shield spaces per one", "Armor spaces per one", etc. work?
2) Can you add more "Design Types" other than the missing Defense Ship? And if so, how?
Thanx in advance...

Re: Question about: Default_AI_DesignCreation.txt
1) Not sure, haven't fiddled with that yet. Mephisto or Tampa_Gamer can probably tell you.
2) Don't think so. I think the AI is hardcoded how to use certain designtypes so that's probably a no go.

Re: Question about: Default_AI_DesignCreation.txt
1) Its a divisor. Example:
Ship Toannge 400 T
SSPO: 200
400/200 = 2 so there are 2 shields on the design.
I think the AI is rounding so a 500t ship would get 2,5 = 3 shields.
BTW: 10000 means 1 and only 1 of this component AFAIK.
2) I never bothered to try this as it would most likly not work. It is probably hard-coded behavior.

Re: Question about: Default_AI_DesignCreation.txt
As to your question (2), I have tried repeatedly to mix up the designs several different ways (too numerous to list here) and by modifying several different files - no dice - the problem is that the construction vehicles queue won't let you "call" by name, only type. However, you CAN make different types of the same design type (see the different types of fighters the Darloks 1.31 use) you just have no control over the exact build mix and you CAN make different hull sizes of the same design type (i.e. an escort, a cruiser attack ships, etc.) by limiting the tonnage size of the design. This is still being worked on and tweaked in the new Version of the Darloks, but the key is to place the largest hull-size of a design type first, then the smaller ones. This way, when the AI "reads" the design file it won't always pick the smaller one first and later in the game won't be attacking you with 15 high-level escorts.

Re: Question about: Default_AI_DesignCreation.txt
Thanx for your answers, it will help a lot.
(I am making a mod that uses "engines per move" in vechiclesize.txt, this field will be based on tonnage. And as I've found, when selecting Min/Max speeds this is actually selecting # of engines NOT speed, thus I need to have diffrent AI designs for each ship size.)
Oh, one Last thing... Do either of you know exactly what the AI uses Defense ships for?
