Another plague question
I just saw something that I have never seen before. I just got a event log entry saying that a deadly plague has broken out on planet xxx and the people are crying out for a cure.
Here's the wierd part: planet xxx was not mine. it was colonized by another empire that I have a T & R alliance with. Single player, TDM 3.40 beta, v1.91. Game events were set to moderate/catastrophic.
I have been hit with plagues before, but I have never been informed of a plague on an ally's planet before. Is this supposed to happen?
Slick.

Re: Another plague question
You get a plague notice of any planets in teh same system you have planets in. Allies or enemies. It's a quirk, not sure if it was intentional or not. It's always been like that, but plagues don't happen all that often, so you probably just never noticed it before.
This is teh reason you get the message:
code:
Type := Planet - Plague
Severity := Medium
Effect Amount := 1
Message To := System
Compare that to another event:
code:
Type := Planet - Cargo Damage
Severity := Medium
Effect Amount := 100
Message To := Owner
The "Message To" field is what controls that.

Re: Another plague question
Thanks. Never knew that. I think it's neat that I am still learning things about this game after playing it for so long.

Re: Another plague question
I recall getting one of these a while back, and I believe someone else discussed this as well some time ago. I could be wrong thought, but still interesting.

Re: Another plague question
I think it still works, but you have to be allies. Maybe it requires a military alliance or better? It might be determined by treaty level.

Re: Another plague question
Wow, I didn't know this either. I set the events to low frequency catastrophic and some games nothing ever happens. So I've only had a plague event a couple times ever.

Re: Another plague question
I think a couple of patches ago, any ship with a medical bay could cure a planet with a plague, even if it wasn't yours. That doesn't seem to work lately -- hey I was just helping out the AI on a mission of mercy. I had noting to do with that plague. Nothing at all. Quit stareing.
