Updating the Gold-D-2 Mod Soon
Just a little tease for what I'm playtesting right now...
Advanced PDC tech (skips shields and armor)
MAUW Weapons (Manually Activated Unit Weapons, beams, missiles and fighter weapons that target seekers, drones, fighters and sats).
Escort Carrier reduced to 30% ftr bay required vs 50%.
External mounted missiles ranges extended and targets for drones/sats added.
Various weapons retargeted....(should Torps be able to hit sats/drones...anyone....??).
Machine shop replaced with massive shipyard for space going ships.
Retro Mounts (bigger and cheaper/less damaging components and weapons).
Decoy Drone (1-2 speed missile with massive structure to soak up PDC fire).
Points Generation Abilities:
Base Research Components
Base Intell Components
Sats-Weather (organic)
Rad (radioactives)
Mining (mineral)
Ship Research Comp
Ship Intell Comp
Testing Ship Factories/Hydroponics for useability....might limit 1/2 ship.
Warheads....plague drones anyone??
AI scripts re-done/updated (various)
Added AI's for :Fazrah
Gamilon
Manticore (pending permission)
Plus other stuff I've forgotten.....

Re: Updating the Gold-D-2 Mod Soon
Could you add an AI-only tech requirement to the AI mounts? It is a little irritating to see the AI mounts mocking me whenever I make a new ship. I actually did this myself in a tweak of the D-2 mod that I have been tinkering with. I could actually send you the relevant files if you would like. It might save you some time.

There is no might about it. But since it is a hotmail address, it is already spam fodder, so it probably will make no difference.

Re: Updating the Gold-D-2 Mod Soon
I'd think torpedoes should be able to hit satellites... they might be small, but they *are* stationary targets, and torpedoes generally have a proximity fuse Not sure about drones, though...

Re: Updating the Gold-D-2 Mod Soon
Actually... satellites are pretty big. They are like miniature, automated space stations, afterall. These are not at all like modern day communications satellites. If they were, you would not be able to mount large ship-class weapons systems on them. If you ever watched Babylon 5, think of those defense satellites in orbit of Earth. They are relatively massive structures, much, much larger than fighters, equal in size to a lot of ships.
