Trillan and Yahoo
I have recently been informed that Yahoo has shut out Trillian, and so you can no longer connect to Yahoo IM via Trillian. I could also not connect to it via GAIM. This is a sad day.

Oh well, I don't have any contacts on Yahoo, so it doesn't make a difference to me!

Re: Trillan and Yahoo
Pretty soon MSN will be out too. I read somewhere that if you want to use Trillan for MSN that you will have to pay as Microsoft is doing it for security reasons, IIRC. Trillian sucks anyway so it doens't bother me.

Re: Trillan and Yahoo
The MSN thing has been and gone.
Yahoo is changing their protocol, but that won't affect Trillian, really. Everybody using the service needs to download a patch to update to the protocol, even under the official client.

Re: Trillan and Yahoo
I like Trillian, haven't had a problem, just sucks that Yahoo and MSN gets all bent out of shape for something that makes things easier.

Re: Trillan and Yahoo
Actually... MSN sent the Trillian people the new specs when they upgraded their network several months back for security purposes, so that Trillian Users could still be connected. It is Yahoo and AOL (AOL also owns ICQ) that get bent out of shape over Trillian.

Re: Trillan and Yahoo
Yeah, its not cool that they shut out people, I mean, come on. I dunno, it is their network they pay for it.
As for MSN giving it out, Ive never heard that. MS isnt so bad after all.

Re: Trillan and Yahoo
I think it was actually on the main Trillian site for a bit a long time ago. They said something like "MSN is soon going to upgrade their networks to increase security, and they have provided us with the specifications necessary to connect, so that we can update our program."
