RTC help!
I cant get it to start SE4 on this computer.
I am running XP pro.
the paswords ARE the same, as I have taken over another empire and could log into it while in se4.
also it (RTC) runs perfectly on my other computer wich is running 98se.
anyone got any ideas?
and before anyone says "just use your other computer" - it is slow, lower res, somone else is usualy on it, and it is down the other end of the house.

Re: RTC help!
You say the other one's lower resolution... maybe you have this one set to a resolution too high for SE4 to handle? I know that if you put it at something like 1400x1280 the game just plays with a black border, but I haven't tried any higher resolutions...
I've been running SE4 just fine on XP Pro so I doubt it's the OS itself that's causing the problem, not that I'd rule out configuration settings. Any particular error message you're getting or is it just crashing to Windows with no explanation or giving a generic access violation?
I wonder how well remote desktop works over a dialup connection... maybe if you can't figure it out, sometime we're both Online I could take a quick look at it...

Re: RTC help!
RTC should run fine on XP. At what point does it fail? Your comment "I cant get it to start SE4 on this computer." sounds like you are getting connected and logged in but the turn doesn't run? If that's correct then the only things that can cause the problem is an incorrect password or an incorrect Se4 directory. Are you scout on PBW? If so I made a post in your thread on PBW as well. I was able to get it working so the password is correct. Must be the Se4 directory path. Check that again.

Oh, sorry, I thought when you said "I can't get it to start SE4 on this computer" you were trying to say "I can't get SE4 to start on this computer"... you know, like "I can't get it to start, that darn SE4, on this computer!"

Re: RTC help!
lol ed.
yea thanks geo, I had another look and I found that when I cut the folder address from the "properties/target" line from the shortcut icon I had accedentaly left the " infront of the address so it looked like:
"C:\Program Files\Games\Space Empires IV Gold
(dont know why I dint see that before...)
works now though!
