Re: World in Crisis - Started
I've sent 80+ militia with a couple of cavalry backup against about 10 or so elephants, militia sliced trough the elephants like butter!?

Re: World in Crisis - Started
Its not that surprising, actually. Its the tyrrany of large numbers - which is why that massed slingers are effective against vanheim, and massing is so critical for malverni.
Units have to make morale checks when they lose x% of their number. I believe the first check is at 10%. When they get down to 4 units, they have to make continuous morale checks.
Additionally, the entire force has to make morale checks when the total casualties are high enough.
Elephant morale is low, if I recall, its 8. Home terrain adds 1.
Sermon of courage, adds one (or two). But even if so you're still talking a base morale of 10.
And, with 10 elephants, you have to make your morale check as soon as you loose 1 elephant.
The same mechanics BENEFIT militia. If you have 80 militia in one segment - you don't even get the first morale check until 8 militia have been killed.
So, I'm willing to be what happened ist hat the elephants advanced and either didn't kill 8, or the militia actually got first strike.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
Well actually it was 60 militia and 20 flagelants that got butchered by the slingers. But still you'd expect 10 elephant to be able to rout 60 lousy militia that have same morale as they. I think only 1 elephant actuality died, that's why I always use undead with elephants and cavalry.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
It was a warp in the space-time continuum. We got the wrong battle results..... In another game, I fought ~10 Mammoths with 140 Skinshifters, and I lost over 40 men. I think the battle results were switched at birth.

Re: World in Crisis - Started
Because they have rejected the law of Phil, and have not kept his decrees, because they have been led astray by the false Kraken Steen, who is now dead, I will send fire upon the Sea of Angels that will consume the fortress of Oceania.
So speaks Ylid Heem, prophet of Phil

Re: World in Crisis - Started
"Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. Is not my word like fire," declares Phil, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?"
As I, Ylid Heem, foretold, the fire of Phil did smite the unbelievers in the Sea of Angels. And they did burn for their sins, and those who lived were taken as our slaves. And glory will be to Phil if we can obtain another hammer for breaking more rocks into pieces.
If you would sell a hammer to R'lyeh, we will pay you most handsomely. We grant safe passage to all messengers to our seas, that they may tell us their hammer prices.
-- Ylid Heem, prophet of Phil

Re: World in Crisis - Started
The Lakan Nation would like to apologize for the slightly awkward bit of diplomacy that has recently occurred between us, the Ermorian Republic, and the Giants of Formoria. Furthermore we feel we must ensure that harbor no ill will towards either nation and hope that in time this can be remembered as an amusing little footnote in a long and prosperous history between our collective peoples.
