Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
Game battle report...
France vs. Russia Time frame: Current May 2015. Type: Meeting engagement. Turn count: 24 turns (Software invoked "mercy rule" for AI.) Status: Marginal Victory. Setup/deployment/save functions: Normal. Turn sequencing: Normal. Equipment and Troop operations/functionality: Normal Equipment and Troop characteristics: Normal (Morale, suppression etc.) Artillery characteristics: Normal (To include all Off Map/On Map SPA/SAM/MANPAD/Mortar units.) Air characteristics: Normal (To include all Helo/Jets) Artillery overload: Normal (Both sides.) Objective hold points: Normal (Both sides.) All others to include keyboard, mouse, GPU, Audio and games settings etc.: Normal.
Conclusion: It appears no anomalies were seen or noted during Setup/Game Play and games conclusion (Battle result/Experience level increase/Next Mission/Repair/Expand/Support Troop/Map Review and backup to Setup. Do we need more data have Germany vs. Russia 1884 Germany to defend in the can ready to go if desired.
I know what the easy way was- It works, however it does render the "...what of equipment was used" etc. question hopefully now a...moot point.
Regards,
Pat

Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
Yesterday while playing my generated campaign June 1986 Germany vs. DDR (East Germany) in Germany defending/AI DDR assaulting, I noticed that during the AI artillery (And the AI overloaded it's artillery-heavily.) phase where I had my Leopards under fire from the artillery the tank wasn't there and a couple of times the game acted like the tank left it's position (As if routed+) but there was no image of the tank doing that, in other words the screen moved to show the retreat but there was no tank there. The kicker here is after the barrage and during the rest of the AI's turn and then on my turn the tank is still in position and graphically shown and other wise functioning as it should.
I'm running Win 10 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti GPU both are updated as is the rest of my rig (I finally have a PC you can call a RIG.). I don't believe this was my imagination this started to happen mid way through the game as my units started to come under more artillery fire. Only happened with my tanks as far as I can tell. Did NOT see this in the previous test game as posted above.
This sounds very familiar to what happened about 3-4 years ago I think in the thread "Ghost Tanks"(?) or named something similar to that. It had something to do about firing tanks "disappearing" if not mistaken.
Everything else seemed to work fine. Has anyone else seen this in a similar situation?
Game is in Windowed/Direct X and Desktop modes.
Regards,
Pat

Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
As a post script, I forgot to add that I bench-marked my GPU with UNiGiNE's Valley and Heaven benchmark engines in API: DirectX11/DirectX3D11 modes in the High setting mode. It scored scored: HIGH. For those unfamiliar this benchmark (and others) is designed to "stress" out your GPU to make sure it's functioning properly in different environments.

Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
All I can say at this time is let us know if it happens again and if you have a save game that would be most excellent and if anyone else sees the same thing the above applies as well. We want to hear about it and a save game that repeats the problem would be doubleplusgood

Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
I'll assume the game save has to come from the particular game in question that the issue occurred in and cannot be recaptured from the campaign file itself. On to the next game up to the deployment phase. No answer required if the above is true (No news is good news.) Did get a driver update downloaded earlier today (GPU) after my posts it might muddy the waters a bit. Will track.

Pat

Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
I'll never forget what windows did to my orginal version of Steel Panthers and all my other DOS wargames. They all wouldn't work anymore. To top it off, the prior version of Windows (Windows 94) worked with DOS. What happened? To qoute a famous line from a movie "I'll never put a life jacket on again"

Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
Well I finally updated to Windows 10 (64 bit), GTX 970 (359.00 driver).
Runs just fine in windowed mode.
So far totally unable to get it to run in full screen.

Re: Windows 10 Status and yes there'll be no Win 9.
Brought this back "up" only to show some of the early issues encountered with Win 10 all are resolved now as far as I know. I believe they (Issues) started on pg. 2 bottom. Hope it helps. Mines be running fine since my couple of issues.

Pat
