Re: MP Game: Ye Olde Dom2 Game
Oh, dearie me. Erm, hate to screw this game up for everyone involved, but I think it might be best if we restarted, seeing as we are on turn 1, short a few players, and so on.
It seems my pretender upload didn't quite take, and I'm stick with the "filler" pretender I used to claim the slot, so it wouldn't be taken in the 10-15 minutes I spent creating a more suitable pretender. I could always stick with it but, seeing as it's a Naga chassis without scales or additional magic or dominion, I suppose it'd throw game balance outta whack.
Really unspeakably sorry about this.
Update: Just preempting the irony here, next time I'll be sure to check md5sums before changing pretenders, not just after.

Bah! I take it you haven't caught the Posts (in this thread even) about how you _can't_ overwrite the bloody pretenders? Esben implemented that to keep people from stealing slots.
You _HAVE_ to go anonymous and ask the game creator to kick anonymous players, just like I did.

Ergh. I read every bit of that post except the very Last line,
Quote:
It does need anonymous kicked still, and I've a new Caelum pretender ready to go when I see it's been kicked.

Which really seems to contradict all of the remainder of that post and the one that preceded it, doesn't it?
Only at first glance, of course. That'll teach me to skim.

Re: MP Game: Ye Olde Dom2 Game
i don't know how to restart game entirely, restart only starts current game after stopping, does not reset game. how should restart game, and what everyone else think?

I believe you have to kill (stop) the game entirely, and immediately create a new game while the slot is open.
Then everyone has to upload their pretenders again. Then, in about a week, we'll find out that someone didn't set a password.

Re: MP Game: Ye Olde Dom2 Game
Restarting games take a very long time. One game in particular that I am in has taken over 2 weeks just to get going after a restart. And it is very hard to get everybody to get their pretenders uploaded again. Plus people will want to drop and new people will want in, thus starting the process anew. And, as Canehill just mentioned, someone will have forgotten a password and want yet another restart.
I do understand that Vicious Love uploaded the wrong pretender. But hey, what is the worst thing that can happen to him? Why, he loses and then simply enters another new game. Big deal!
I will probably be gone before him anyway because I do not know how to play this game very well.
Once a game finally gets going, it seems best to just keep it going. My vote is to fight on!
So, on to turn two for me!

Re: MP Game: Ye Olde Dom2 Game
I have to agree with Panther - I'd prefer to keep the game going.
In the future, Vicious Love might consider throwing together -some- fully loaded pretender into a slot to reserve it. Takes what - 5 minutes or less to tap the scales, add some magic paths, and have something in place.
And also, to check the md5 value to verify that he hadn't gotten updated; I mean, that's one reason the thing is there, not so people can just say, "Wow, what a long hex value!". Worst case, a person can make a minor change to their pretender and attempt uploading again, to see if the md5 value changes.
When it _doesn't_ they should be able to figure out that their first update didn't go through either.
