Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Ok, I am in place on the PBW. Since it is my first time doing this and I suspect new to others as well, let me reassure you that it is very simple. As Tigga will tell you, if I can figure it out, so can your average garden vegetable.
I would suggest going to the PBW site http://seiv.pbw.cc/ Go to the FAQs and print them out, they are very helpful. From there, try to join the game and once Mephisto says ok, upload your empire file.
Getting your empire file is easy. Just fire up SEIV and create your race. Just remember to set the racial points at 5000 at the start, or you will have to redo everything. Then save the race under your name of choice. You will need to know the directory it is in when you want to upload it.
Mephisto has very kindly set the game up so that a turn only runs when everyone has sent their turn in. This is great and will make our world a happy place. However, if anyone is planning to go on holiday, please let us know so we can get our teddy bears and go mope.

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
As the resident garden vegetable, I messed one thing up. Have your .emp file (empire file) ready before you start. Mephisto does need to authorize your entry to the game, which might be quick or might wait until it is daylight in Europe. Once he does that, you can upload your file. In my case, I think we share a time zone and he authorized me very quickly.

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Saxon, this is a cople of good Posts from you - nice change!!
Sincew when have you been a garden vegetable, and if so, please can the usual residents of the cantina cast their votes for what sort of vegetable Saxon would be, I personally will go for Celeriac
Esel, if I am right from Saxon's post, do you need to be available when we go Online, I wont be able to design the empire until later on tonight which means you would have to be around late on your time
Also, how do find out where the "save empire" option has stuck your file??

I will also try and get my race down tonight, but it will be late as I have to work my part time job until 10pm. Hopefully next day or two I will send you my race file
Agree with GT how do I know where my save race file is

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Gryphin, I will respond here rather than the 'Planetary Names' thread.
Yes, I do know who John Norman is. As I recall, he wrote about 4-5 good books about Tarl Cabot and Gor, and then about another 20 books where he seemed to be going off on frolics about slavegirls and what you could do with them. He lost it when he went that way if you ask me as some of those stories were really good (Tribesmen of Gor was always a personal favourite)
Right, I now see that you name your planets after battles. That's cool. Why is Little Big Horn in my honour? I note you did not seem to include any battles where the americans got beaten!
As to responding to the off-topic remark, everything in its place, everything in its place

Re: Ye Olde Galactic Bar & Grill & Phong\'s Head Cantina
Where is your .emp file?
Well, open up Microsoft Windows Explorer. It is the place where you see where the files are in your computer. You will look for the folder called Program files, as that is where SEIV is probably saved, unless you installed things in an odd fashion. Double click on that folder and look for Malfodor Malefactions, then SEIV, then either Empires or Races (sorry I forget the exact name). In that folder, you should see a lot of familiar looking names like Krill, Cue Cappa, ect. Look for the one that is the name you used when saving your empire, i.e. Diseased Tigers or Dirty Boxer Shorts. That should be your .emp file.
Tigga, don't worry about Mephisto being on line when you are. If you join and he is not on line, you will just have to log on again tomorrow night and hope he has authorized you in the mean time.

GrowlTigga
Interesting, we are more alike than I thought. I have the first 4 books. I stopped reading when he “off on his frolics”. My favorite was “Nomads of Gor” as you may have picked up from the “Kamchak” referance.
My favorte quote is: “I am a Tuchuck, I have a plan”.
Little Big Horn is in your honor because of all the razing you gave me over Custer.
<EDIT:> “where Americans go beaten”, Depends on how you look at the battles of the Civil War or the battles with the Native Americans who used to force us to Circle the Wagons. You could say Americans both won and lost those battles but I wax philosophically.
</EDIT>
It is rewarding to see you pick up on my method of moving Off Topic remarks here, (the way I started doing). You are trainable after all.
