Cross of Iron (1977)
Unteroffizier Krüger: I stay dirty for a reason. If you've been in the field as long as I've been, you'd know why.
Sargeant Steiner: Explain.
Unteroffizier Krüger: Natural body oils, combined with dirt, can keep you waterproof.

The best thing about that movie is that Mr. President of the US, Her Majesty's British Officer, and the German scientist Dr. Strangelove, were all played by the same actor.

"God left this place a long time ago" From 'Blood Diamond' (2006) he does a pretty good South African accent too.
I seldom heard TIA ("this is Africa") anything really bad was "This is Africa bra/bru"

Re: Your Favorite Movie Quotes
One of the most touching scenes in a war movie, is the Spielberg "Saving Private Ryan," the General Marshall scene, "Letter to Mrs. Bixby."
"I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom."

Re: Your Favorite Movie Quotes
"You was in the Guards? When I was in the Army my rifle was longer than you."
Not from a film, one of my old Dad's mates in the 1970's - a former Gordon Highlander from Glasgow- about a former Scots Guards soldier who joined their firm.
