Re: windows 10 problem
Oh - the other thing the last windows 10 update did to me was to delete the quick launch list (the one that has your useful programme icons pinned in the LHS of the task bar). I used to use the quick launch a lot, grrr!
Apparently a known windows 10 problem, with no known solution. Apparently it may randomly decide to reappear, or not, depends on how it is feeling.
I solved it by dragging shortcuts for my frequently used programmes to the task bar, where they sit there and kinda-sorta do the job the quick launch tool bar did.

Re: windows 10 problem
Oh yes - sometimes on reboot, the icon on the task bar for the volume control is done with a disables red dot with an x on it, or simply refuses to let you click on it and get to the quick pop-up volume control slider. Reboot a few times and it will eventually go back to a working state, rather than having to go through control panel to alter the volume.
Generally, not impressed with Windows 10 as a product. I may well soon be turning to a Linux machine for the day to day stuff, with Windows 10 in a Virtual Machine for games and programming.

Re: windows 10 problem
I have successfully (in the past) ran a Linux VM (on my Windows 7 host) which in turn ran the Wine emulation which allowed me to install SPWW2 and run it, it seem to work just fine. I ran out of space on the W7 machine and had to delete it (saved the vm stuff).
Linux is pretty darn near stable of an O/S. I was using Linux Mint and it was easy enough to install wine and the the game.

Re: windows 10 problem
I have Windows 10 on my machine and constant difficulties. My dad's laptops have windows 7 and run and run and run.
One is in 9! Seconds up. My Win 10 desktop is equivalent but even from hybrid standby it is not faster. Maybe I should rather install Windows Vista to be carefree?
