Heh how about SP3 = bikinis?

Hmm I would like to play SP3 into Windows-environment (and without any DOS-based emulator to get game work) but I think that I could only dream about it...

Scotish to English would be handy a guy I know is hard to understand especially after a few beers. I assume because the accent becomes worse & more slang though it is possible he could just be pissed & talking nonsense. On that point actually how is it 2 pissed people can understand each other yet a sober person can't despite the fact he should be more capable of figuring it out. The only way I know to join the conversation is to catch up.

Ah! - You have already confused the Left-Pondians -
"pissed" = drunk (Scots, "pished","blootered").
"pissed as a newt" or "pissed as a parrot" = staggering drunk

American "pissed" = angry, or at least severely annoyed. Which is something entirely different! from the original English meaning of the phrase!.

As for the other, there are plenty of Scots->English translations about, e.g. http://www.firstfoot.com/dictionary/a.html

Cheers
Andy

One thing i like about playing PBEM is playing against others from different countries.
But ground rules need to be carefully gone over,not as much for them, as many have a good comprehension of English and other languages.
It's me! schools in US don't press foreign languages,
I'm languagely challenged and sometimes in english.

I understand that some languages can have upwards of 200 different dialicts (as in speach patterns not robotic villians). That would mean that a good chunk of the populantion can only be understood in their local area. I'm sure there are hundreds of dictionaries out there, but I think the best way to learn is from the culture itself. My father spent two years in Scottland as a youngn man, so growing up we got to hear stories and meet friends of his from there. I had a chance to study Russian in secondary school and college, as well as live in SW Russian doing religious service for two years. It was a wonderful experience and I wish I had done study abroad when I was in college. The Internet provides lot of oppurtunities to learn more.

@Imp - probably the same way that I, who is slightly dislexic, and another person who is slightly dislexic were able to work together. I read off a number to her, but mixed some of them up. When she wrote them down, however, they were correct.

SP3 could be fun and as upside, its scale allowed for some "grand" maneuvers (I just edited my OOBs for it by significantly reducing the movement as to not have tank crossing completely AT gun effective range in one turn) and it was fun. A bit. However there were just too many issues to provide for a lasting joy (for example the "immobilised = killed" thing) and SPWW2 was more fun, so I moved along... And I suspect removing these issues once again would not do too well in effort-benefits analysis
If you want something based on SP3, get yourself SPWAW and check it out, has some nice features too, but generally I prefer SP2 based games.
