Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
He means a slave collar on the Golem I think, to remove its vulnerability to magic duel.

If it could be found it would be an extremely useful item for the price. Equipping ten scouts with two collars each and attacking a province full of mages could be devastating if it worked. But it doesn't. I just wonder why you like to post things like this without even testing.

'Low astral SC's are *easily* killed with magic duel.' Ie, Golems for example.
What are you talking about?

Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
he's talking about disabling enemy mages by "letting" them find slave collars dropped from dead golems.
clearly not a winning strategem on it's own, but definately an amusing potential side-effect (assuming of course that the collars can be found)

Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
I am sorry for understanding your point wrong. I could imagine the only possible use for collars - that was what I said about. As for giving collars to golems, it is not good because it lowers MR by 5 and the very first Opposition will be a kill. Also, golem doesn't have good stats and uses Astral Magic to compensate it a bit. Without astral and one misc slot golem is a poor thug at best

Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
7: Best way to equip a golem IMO
I mostly use them as flying tramplers with something like this:
Shield, another shield or weapon w. attack bonus, Starshine skullcap, Stymphalian wings(flying & trample), boots of stone, Amulet of antimagic and maybe a ring (depending on opposition), reinvigoration item or passive attack item(if I have dual shields).
The weapon is in case you stumble over a crusher or elephant or something, but it isn´t meant to fight other SC:s.
Body ethereal, luck, resist magic, attack rear.
Can easily clear hundreds of mundane troops and I like being able to fly back after teleporting in.

As I said ano, its situational. Against a nation without astral, I agree with you.
Against Marignon or R'ylleh ... you're better off feebleminded.

Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
Putting a slave collar on a golem is a terrible idea. If you're outclassed in astral magic you can still use them as raiders, or as sacrificial antimagic casters on defense if you're really hard up for astral casters. Without their magic the only thing they're really good for is being a block of HP with decent strength, which other summons can do for a lot cheaper.

Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
Fantomen:
You'd want boots of quickness and elixir of life on him Much better results.
From boosters - use astral shield. Resist magic is not really necessary for raiding, if you get against mages you are screwed anyway.

Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
I doubt elixir of life works on lifeless beings. At least it shouldn't.
And with Stymphalian Wings and without quickness golem will have something like 3 AP. Who are you going to trample with that?
Trample is rather poor attack in general at late stages, IMO.

Re: Most Useful Rituals and Equipment......
But the primary purpose of Golems, is PD smashers. You don't need to kill them that fast as you have Fear as well. But I agree, that Boots of Quickness are often the best to pair with the Wings.
