Re: Graeme\'s Server Status Thread
If you were having trouble connecting last night, you should be able to connect now.

Re: Graeme\'s Server Status Thread
Three servers? Makes me want to put up that Sparc I have in the garage just to keep up.
Out of curiousity..
Linux? Windows? Mac? and what version of OS?
Are you trying any interfacing to other programs such as web or email?
Has it made you want to volunteer to run the official server, or just the oppossite?

Three games on one computer actually.

Windows 98 SE on a 766 MHz PIII with 256 MB of RAM. I've had up to five or six instances of Dom 2 running at once on it, so I know it could handle more, but the administrative overhead gets really large at that point with my flaky internet connection.

I tried a couple of times to find a program that would let me send out automatic email notifications, but haven't had much luck.

I don't mind hosting games, but I really hate when outside circumstances disrupt their smooth flow.
As an announcement to the players in my games, I've received notice from Shaw that my Internet connection will have service disruptions for up to five hours on the night of Feb. 22nd, so I'll delay all hostings by an extra 24 hours to accommodate any international players.

Re: Graeme\'s Server Status Thread
I believe R'lyeh is no longer playing, as he has staled the last dozen turns or so.
Any chance of putting him AI to speed the game up alittle?
In the LA game.

If he doesn't play the next turn, then I'll set him to AI.

Re: Graeme\'s Server Status Thread
Ive got a script on mine which compares the .trn files with the .2h files. There will always be a fresh .trn file due to timed hosting but if its more than 5 days newer than the latest .2h Ive received then I consider it dead.
Actually I dont use it so much for dead players as I do to look for dead games. With so many games running on my servers I had trouble keeping watch, and so many of them "ended" without the players taking it to the final screen so it would clear itself out.

Re: Graeme\'s Server Status Thread
I'd do exactly the same thing except for the fact that I'm running a Win98 machine and don't want to use Linux as it's my machine for playing old games that don't work under XP.

Re: Graeme\'s Server Status Thread
It should be possible to do the same thing with a batch file. Or it might take abit of programming (I tend to use basic for that)
