Re: frustration with se5
It is, partially. There's settings to move some of the interface elments around, but they don't work fully. And all the pictures that make up the interface are moddable.

The interface holds se5 back from its potential glory.

Bingo.
EDIT: AT I looked at your attachment just now, I really like the look of it. I'd really like those buttons to be customizable. I.e. I can put those buttons in the drop down menus of my choice. And I can make a button on my own to organize the buttons shown on your picture - I'm not just limited to organizing the buttons into a hardcoded top level.

Re: frustration with se5
Hmm, well, if Aaron can somehow pull off making it moddable enough to at least somewhat emulate SE4 and get more of the buttons on the screen at once, that would be pretty aweseome. What was so wrong with having all the buttons up top anyway?

Ya know, I didn't really like those buttons. But I also don't like intense hierarchies used to avoid the button cornucopia. Maybe the complexity of the game makes the buttonfest necessary.

Re: frustration with se5
Buttonfest? Well, I suppose there are a lot of buttons, but it only amounted to two rows. I never felt overwhelmed by their number.
I think we agree though that the system in SE5 stinks, especially after having everything at your fingertips in SE4.

Re: frustration with se5
It wasn't, at least for me initially. (play SE4 at 800x600 some time..). SE5 avoids that pitfall but adds a couple new ones.
I wouldn't mind the button grouping so much if some of the more common commands weren't buried.

Re: frustration with se5
Has anybody made an SE4-ized version of the hotkeys?
All of the most common ones feel like they've been randomized in SE5.

Re: frustration with se5
SJ do you mean a se4-ized version of the *buttons* or hotkeys? AT made an se4-ized version of the buttons several posts back in this very thread (look for the attachment)

Eh? They seem quite identical to me. I haven't checked too deeply, but I don't notice any common ones that differ much at all from SE4. You did use the reset keys feature, right? They were randomized many beta versions ago, but Aaron made them sensible again (much like SE4's hotkeys).
