Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
Uh, 2007 Aug? Seem to remember reading it was actually ready for release *now*, just lacking a publisher.
The combat is mainly what I think looks interesting too, but I've to admit it looks like they've put very much effort into the background/story etc., which is probably a good sign.

Homeworld wasn't the birth of the RT4X genre, I remember playing Imperium Galactica 1 well before Homeworld's release, and as far as I'm aware, it's a real time 4X game.

I vote Shrapnel 'Totally Cool' for posting someone elses' game on their own forums.

Way cool and thanks!
We like the Stardock folks. They are a publisher of distinction in my book. I'm looking forward to seeing how this game turns out!

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
Anyone else notice the way the stardock representative slipped a mention of galciv2 in to the PR?

Maybe. But SOTS really isn't that good of a game (IMHO).
Outside of the pretty combat there is very little to do. Where the Space Empires games are about as complex a game as I've ever found, SOTS is so simple I suspect my mum wouldn't take more than a week to learn it well (that's damn quick for her! ).
I'll be interested to see Sins of a solar empire and compare it with the other offerings in the 4x realm this year.
Come to think of it. - Four 4x games in one year (gc2, se5, SOTS, now this) is a LOT. I suspect the average is less than 1. Enjoy them while you can folks, the sequals won't be out for years yet.

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
It's simple because it's multiplayer friendly. I couldnt imagine playing SE in realtime multiplayer. But there is plenty of strategy to be learned.

Re: Did anyone see this from Stardock?
Realtime multiplayer?!?
Space Empires games are turn based strategy. Most definitely not an RTS, thank Xintis.
