Re: Official SE5 site up
Yeah, I probably would never have heard of Dom3 had Shrapnel not kept this board around
Not to say I *will* buy Dom3 right away (budget's kinda tight at the moment), but I'm likely to at some point...

Re: Official SE5 site up
That site has nothing on SEnet. Mediawiki is a much nicer backend than the weird "books" of Drupal. SEnet has "journals," which are like blogs. Maybe I could hack in a basic user web site system... hmm...

Re: Official SE5 site up
I'm trying to connect to the site but I am getting an error. I've never seen this before. Is the site temporarily down?
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Unable to connect to database server
This either means that the username and password information in your settings.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the MySQL database server. This could mean your hosting provider's database server is down.
The MySQL error was: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061).
Currently, the username is root and the database server is localhost.
Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
For more help, see the Installation and upgrading handbook. If you are unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your hosting provider."

Re: Official SE5 site up
maybe it had something to do with my post to have SF scrap the whole thing (we really dont need ANOTHER total SE community) and just make spaceempires5.com point to a portal listing all the SE communities that do exist, and maybe have a table on that same page with the latest SE news in it from SF, as well as maybe a forum (at most) with the sole purpose to report bugs and submit improvement/feature requets.

Re: Official SE5 site up
I disagree with you Inigma. The publisher needs to have a website supporting their title. Mind you the site is intended to replace the current SFI SE Universe forums.

Re: Official SE5 site up
I'm eager to see this new site! Will someone copy/paste or some thing much of the material here to there? Though, most of the material here is SEIV. Especially, the stickies/tacks would be good sor the SEIV section on the new site. I assume that will be done anyway.

Re: Official SE5 site up
It's nothing spectactular right now. It consists mostly of remarks directed at improving the site's useability. Essentially it has forums, allows users to create groups around mods etc., make books (like manuals or FAQs etc), and blogs and crap of that sort.
