You might also ask why they never again used seeking torpedos against cloaks? Or just set sensors to scan for exhaust fumes. Well that would be to easy, so just forget it ever happened or existed.

Heat-seeking weapons rely on infra-red glows, not temperature differentials in the atmosphere. "Seeing", not "touch".

Trying to follow conducted heat would be even harder than trying to follow the scent of burnt jet fuel.

I was IMHO a fairly good scifi show...as far as the characters were concerned...it waas alot like Aliens meets Starship Troopers...and the special effects were a bit lame...but I was upset to see it go so early...
