That's a good idea. You could make packages like "Slow Physics" which is the normal physics tree with 3x costs. "Normal Physics". "Fast Physics" which costs 1/4x normal. "Bad Physics" which can't pass level 2, etc. Then assign difference point costs to these and have them available to purchase on the race screen so you can customize your whole tech tree.

Enjoyment should be the key. Every tech should offer the chance to win. There should be no Super Tech and there should be many paths to victory.
If there is no program limit on the number of techs or components then it could be done gradually, with a number of people supplying the ideas and creating the files.
The Pirate race is already being tested out, see A pirates life for me thread, and seems to work for a human player. It may be that the new techs are only useful for human players but that would be ok once the Online thing is straightened out.
