Default UN and mines

So I was running a test battle, mixed UN force on the defense against the Red Horde (and they did have a horde of armor...wow) all set in 2017 at an exotic location...

So I bought wire, mines, etc...set my troops and bunkers up, put trenches in, wire, some dragon teeth, and then I go to place land mines at spots to further channel the enemy into my nicely placed AT Guns and ATGMs when this message pops up...

CAN NOT PLACE MINES AS AN OTTAWA TREATY SIGNATORY

Wait, what? Oh right the UN did put that treaty in place...so now I had to rethink my whole plan...well more wire and dragon teeth it was. Nice reality check.

This will last about 10 seconds if the balloon goes up.

Fallout Re: UN and mines

As I posted then (Actually stumbled onto this then, like most things I find.), I'm doing once more.
http://www.icbl.org/en-gb/the-treaty.aspx
http://www.icbl.org/en-gb/the-treaty/treaty-status.aspx
https://www.un.org/disarmament/convarms/Landmines/

(Note: Also provides links to arms trade in Light Blue/Right Corner these and other UN treaties etc. is a big part of how SIPRI derives some of it's info.)
https://legal.un.org/avl/ha/cpusptam/cpusptam.html
(Note: This last one does a nice "overview" of what lead up to the "OTTWA TREATY" and beyond.)

This should last for a few more years!?!

Regards,
Pat

Yep, the UN took the WHA! out of War. I recall watching the night time cluster bombing of the Benghazi Airport from the aircraft flir when the sorties returned, thinking I wouldn't want to be standing there.
