Unit and Formation txt editing info using MOBHack
Here is a short set of guild-lines for adding text files for UNIT DATA ( because I KNOW some of you will want to...)
1/ Use the editor built into MOBHack....it's easier and that was the entire point in adding it there. When you save from MOBHack it automatically saves the correct unit number and puts it in the TEXT folder.
2/ End a sentence with a * and use * to leave a gap between paragraphs..( NOTE: For anyone who has tried this in the past.....you DO NOT need to count words and manually fit them into complete sentences any longer....the game does that for you now )
3/For UNIT DATA you are restricted to approx 130-150 characters or three short paragraphs. It will vary depending on how many paragraphs you write. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you check each one IN THE GAME as it's written. The game does not store text file info in memory so if you add a file using MOBHhack and have the game encyclopaedia open at the same time all you need to do is go to that unit in the game encyclopedia and read whats written....if there is a mistake or it's too long then make your change and save in MOBHack then exit that unit in the encyclopaedia then re-enter and the new text will show .
4/ DO NOT USE any of these in any game text file ( that INCLUDES the version line of the OOB's )
Grave accents – à, è, ì, ò, ù
Acute accents – á, é, í, ó, ú, ý
Circumflex accents – â, ê, î, ô, û
Tilde accents – ñ, õ, ã
Umlaut accents – ä, ë, ï, ö, ü, ÿ
When adding FORMATION DATA you have the same accent restrictions as 4/ above but formation write ups will generate a page 2 or 3 etc if the there is any need to go on that long so you are not restricted in length but as will unit data you need to end sentences with * and to leave a gap between paragraphs
FINAL NOTE: when editing for winSPMBT start the write up with a * then start your text. Because MBT adds reactive armour info you need to manually drop one line. The alternative is to index the line a bit using _(underscore )
Every _ ( underscore ) you use adds a space and that is the only place using underscore is recommended

...and do not use Polish letters: ą, ę, ł, ć, ś, ź, ż nor any other similar inventions either

Re: Unit and Formation txt editing info using MOBHack
As with any text in the SP games - only plain ASCII characters, otherwise strange things may happen, or the game may even crash.

Re: Unit and Formation txt editing info using MOBHack
Crashing used to be an issue when the game was DOS but what I have found now is it does things like cancel the display of the entire text string.......that happened with an OOB credit line that had accents added to the name credits...the entire line would not display in the game....that said some games *may* still crash when accents are used.
