Funny, that is what I thought. And I mentioned your math is wrong.

I do not like that bad event synergy. And no fake math is going to convince me otherwise.
The only bad events unlocked by misfortune are barbarian, triton, and knight attacks. Order and Growth blocks the majority of poploss events. Yes, a 10% poploss on your capital turn 5 hurts, but since most of those events not blocked by Order and Growth, including Barbarians can't occur before turn 5 or 10, that's one of those once in a blue moon type things. Using it as the basis of your argument would be silly.

If misfortune is so awful, how would you pay for the 200 point difference between luck 3 and misfortune 2? If you do it by taking turmoil, you'd get just as many poploss events early and midgame simply from increased event chances and all the common poploss events unlocked by turmoil 2. And you'd definitely have less money regardless of poploss and unrest events simply from worse scales.

I have to agree with bbz and Shangrila00 here. Soy is over reacting. I actually used a order misfortune build in my last game and I *did* get a hurricane in my capitol on turn 3! But despite that I still like the build because the event was statistically very improbable. That said, I might have lost 300-350 gold and some resources from it plus -3% pop. Witch is bad in the early turns. But I have also gotten the Troglodyte attack that also kills 33% of your pop in my capitol in an MP game once. And that was with a luck build!

The thing is, that just because you dont take misfortune does not mean that you dont get bad events. In fact misfortune 1 only increases the chance of it happening by 1.15*1.07 = 23% or 1.30*1.07 = 39% depending how the program is counting things. And thats assuming you dont spend the points on order or spend them in order to expand faster and increase the amount of provinces that the bad event can hit.

Since this seems like a good place to ask without creating a new thread, what is the spectral fire effect on smoulderghosts? I've run into them, and I can't seem to find a description for it (I looked through the modding guide in the base game, and didn't see anything in the CBM.dm). Figured out it's effect #458, but am not sure how to go from there.

Ok, after some play tests, it seems to be both a fire effect and a fatigue effect. Not sure if it's mitigated: by fire immunity?

EDIT: Just tested it, it is (by fire immunity). Ok then!

I don't know the exact values of it, but it seems to be an on-hit fire effect (and a fatigue effect [maybe AoE?]). Really high fatigue, too. Watched a round of combat bring indy knights up to 60-70 fatigue.

Long story short, bring fire immunity against Abysia...duh?
