Lightbulb OT: Help on an IP connection

I have an issue not related to dominions. But I know many of the dominiers are technologywise.

A friend asked me to help him. He wants to connect remotely to an IP camm.
For what i know theres an IP redirect at the router in the receiving end and a firewall exception. So in the place you are peeking from you enter: internetipofthecamerasrouter : portnumber(theonethatredirectstothecammera)

hes done what i think is logical but there must be something we are missing. The ip is fixed but is the dyndns fixing other problems aside from dynamic ip?

because it's an image board before all else, but it is high traffic and this sort of stuff is stuff that someone there would know about.

you could also go to a more conventional tech forum.
