Morale
I read that 50 morale was the highest you could get but that was reserved for lifeless, non-retreatable enities.
I think I know the answer to my question but I just want to confirm it.
Say I have a creature with 30 morale (I have never seen higher in an Undead or living creatue) and I have an artifact that as a byproduct raises morale by 10.
When given to my Commander the morale STAYS at 30. So it has to be one of two things.
1. Morale can only go to 30 and the 10 mmorale byproduct is wasted.
2. The 10 morale is stacked upon the 30 Morale and you would have to lose it in a battle before you started to show any reduction in the stats for morale.
I suggest the excess morale is not ever counted...am I correct?

Re: Morale
30 is special, they don't have normal morale. They can still rout, but I think it's restricted to their own HP being low and as part of a whole-army rout. Morale attacks such as fear don't work on them.

Re: Morale
Micah is correct. Units with morale 30 are not affected by spells like panic, terror or other similar morale reduction attacks. I'm not sure if they can still be affected by the fear ability.
Units with morale 50 are mindless and will be destroyed if the army routs and there is no commander to lead them on the field.
Interestingly, a commander with the Valor ability has increased morale and in that case the value can run over 30, though the display counter stops at 30. I know this because I once had a commander with Valor and he had morale 28 or so with the Battle Fright affliction. Would be nice to run a test where a commander with Valor was held in the HoF for a long time and see if he eventually turns mindless, though that would take a few hundred turns, I think.

Re: Morale
Yes, but morale 99 does not necessarily mean berserk. This is in contrast with mindless, which is set via morale.

Re: Morale
Edi, Morale 30 units are immune to fear in my tests (which involve killing dozens or hundreds of hydras). Morale stays at 30 the whole time.
(By the way, if you're facing someone who uses lots of Fear, remember that prophetized units get Morale 30 automatically.)
Morale 99 does not automatically mean berserk, but should not be used directly in modding. I've tried modding units to 99 and they become buggy; they're not berserk, but they sit there casting the "Iron Will" graphic on themselves over and over to no effect.
