Hosting Questions
Our game for noobies is just about ready to go and upload pretenders now... can someone tell me how to go about creating or getting a Quickhost for us to play on? I heard that it's much less of a hassle than Play By Email and I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding this.
And if anyone can host our little game, let me know!

Re: Hosting Questions
I can host the game for you if you send me all the pretenders and everything, or easier: You kick off the hosting of the initial first turn yourself and then send me the game files (savedgames directory, mods and maps). Then I only need names and email addresses of the players and the hosting interval.

Re: Hosting Questions
I was really wondering about the ins and outs of PBEM vs Autohost as well... for instance, how do you get the autohost going? I don't really understand the difference and the hows and whys of these two mp play types.

Re: Hosting Questions
You need a machine which is connected to the internet, preferably 24/7 with the same IP. You start up the game in server mode with all the appropriate options which can be passed through the command line. For PBEM you play it as if you are playing a local game, with the other players handing in the turns of the other nations. You need to manually handle the distribution and receipt of turn files from the other players via email, unless you automate it like llamabeast did.

Re: Hosting Questions
Llamabeast said he'd host the game, then never responded to emails and now I think he's left on vacation...
So will you host an Autohost or a PBEM game then? Sounds like an Autohost? I think we're about ready to kick this off here, so I guess I can start it off with my computer for the first turn.
Anything else I should know? It's terrible that this game mostly shines in Multiplayer but the manual has absolutely nothing to say on the subject. :/

Re: Hosting Questions
llamabeast does PBEM games, I host TCP/IP games. Prepare to send me everything I need to start the game.
