View Poll Results: How do you use gems in general ?
Only for globals or other endgame things, if my mages are not yet able to cast them I tend to have big stocks of all gems types 3 4.29%
I usually make stocks for some gem types as my strategies often use endgame globals (or wishes) 2 2.86%
I mostly use gems for forge and summons, but use them a lot since midgame 35 50.00%
I mostly use gems to have an advantage in big battles, having well provisioned mages on the battlefield is my first priority 3 4.29%
Gems I've not used for forge or summons this turn are given to boost my battlefield mages, I rarely have stocks 6 8.57%
My priority is to build a magical economy (clams, fetishes, hammers, low level gem producing globals) I use gems for other matters only once my production is huge 9 12.86%
I alchemize or trade most of the gems my national mages can't use, so in 2 or 3 colors I can have stocks and use a lot of gems at the same time 2 2.86%
I don't really have a tendancy like all things it's nation dependent 10 14.29%

Default Re: The big gems poll

It's stated in manual
Quote:
Dispel mechanics
Whenever Dispel is cast or a global tries to replace another for whatever reason, the two spells are compared. The total number of extra gems and the levels of the casters above their spells' requirements are compared according to the following formula:
+1 for each extra gem (above the requirement for casting)
+5 for each level of skill by the casting mage in the spell's path above the casting requirement
a DRN (single open-ended die) is added to each side. The side with the higher number wins.
