Astral Corruption questions
I have alot of questions about Astral Corruption.
1 What exactly is safe to cast under it? Blood only?, what about mixed blood and fire or whatever?
2 What are the odds per gem spent that it will attract a horror? does hammer/ forgebonus or something like it lessen the risk?
3 Do using item rituals liek ivy crown trigger the effect?
4 What are the horrors that are attracted, just normal ones? do they scale? meaning a nastier horror for a larger spell.
thanks

Re: Astral Corruption questions
Rule #1 is don't use any gems overland, just use blood slaves.
1) You can cast blood rituals that have a secondary component, like summon ice devil. You're only using blood slaves, so it's safe. You cannot safely craft items that have a secondary component, like thorns armour. The nature gems used will attract horrors.
2) No idea. But discount sites (eg a 50% off Enchant site) didn't help me any.
3) Ivy crowns are not an item ritual, you still need to cast summon vine man/ogre. I think you could safely use a Stone Sphere, or enter a scrying or summoning site, since you aren't using gems.
4) They scale. The horrors for big rituals aren't normal. They eat you up and spit you out, and then swallow your soul just for fun.

Re: Astral Corruption questions
Good post vfb.
It should be noted that the horror scaling is only a trend. I've had a doom horror show up after making a jade knife, and non-doom horrors pop up after blowing a few hundred gems on a global, so there's a large random element to it. I think I may have also had one show up due to using an item (IIRC it was the black mirror) but I was using the Crown of the Ivy King the same game and don't think I had one show up.
Also you'll sometimes get a double attack on the same turn, so a single returning might not save you (not sure if horror battles count as being at the cap or not, might be able to get around that by giving them some extra pearls to hold on to, but I haven't tested it)

Re: Astral Corruption questions
The best way to deal with astral corruption is to script "returning" on your mages.

Re: Astral Corruption questions
Yeah, But does empowerment attract horrors? Not everyone can cast returning.

Re: Astral Corruption questions
From what I've seen... empowering does not attract horrors.
