Shrapnel selling games for Stardock?

I got a mail that appears to be from Shrapnel but its selling GalCiv II by Stardock and the link to buy it goes to Stardock? Whats up with that? This fake or is Shrapnel gonna use its mailing lists to sell other companies games from now on? I don't remember signing up for any mailng list like this...

Stardock gave us the opportunity to offer an exclusive discount to our customers. Our thought was that folks who had signed up to receive special offers from us would be happy to receive this offer as well. We were glad to make this arrangement with Stardock because we hold them and their games in high regard.

We haven't given out or sold our mail list. This is planned as a one time deal, and we truly thought it was a discount many of our customers would like to take advantage of.

I apologize that the coupon caused you concern and that you found it offensive. We always appreciate your feedback and hope others will let us know if they also had a negative reaction.

I was mainly concerned that this would be an regular thing but if it was a one time special offer I don't really have a problem with it.

I was a little concerned that someone was spoofing Shrapnel's e-mail address for a subtle phishing attempt, because the message body was in a graphical style that I don't recall ever seeing Shrapnel use in any of its offers.

Heh. I WANT that email. Have been waiting for it ever since I saw the post in the Dom3 forum. A 20% discount would make it possible for me to order Galactic Civilizations.

The coupon went to our customer base, i.e. people who have purchased a game from us in the past. Of course, we did not send the offer to customers who opted not to receive special offers from us or asked to be unsubscribed from our mail list. Customers also who opted in but have changed their email address would only receive the offer if they have updated their registration information.
