Default Twiceborn

Will the death spell "Twiceborn" bring a mage back if he dies from old-age induced afflictions?

Is there any trade-off to coming back as a wraith-mage (can't remember if that's the right name)... like reduced spell paths or anything?

Dunno if it works for old-age death.

Coming back as a wight mage means that your mage will be undead. The benefit being 0-encumbrance and the weakness being suspectibility to anti-undead spells. You dont lose any magic paths tho

Bear in mind that you don't *lose* your afflictions when you get reborn, so someone who's died of old-age-induced disease will still be in a bad way when he's reborn.

You may keep your magic and experience, but you lose any skills you had such as stealth.

IIRC it doesn't heal any afflictions though, so if you let him die from old age he may accumulate a couple of afflictions from the disease that kills him. May be better to send him to the front lines to die quickly.

As I recall, Twiceborn will bring the mage back if killed by disease, without losing any paths, experience or afflictions - meaning that a diseased mage left to die at peace will be at 1 HP when reborn.

I usually cast Twiceborn on all Grand Thaumaturgs when playing Broken Empire, and when they get disease I just send them off to die alone without any items to get them back with as little damage as possible. Of course, a Twiceborn mage is just as good of a researcher as a living one, even with 1 HP.

IIRC, being undead also means that the mage doesn't cost any upkeep.
