Adding a penalty to hiring mercenaries
Anyone know how to add a 25 percent cost to a nation when it hires mercenaries? I am thinking that since a starting hero in my Beowulf mod allows for early expansion, a penalty should be imposed on hiring mercenaries.
That would prevent too rapid early expansion. I looked at nation modding, but see no way to add the Pangaea penalty to Man when they stat with Beowulf.

Re: Adding a penalty to hiring mercenaries
Pangaea has a penalty to hiring mercs? News to me.
And no, there's no simple way. You could increase the upkeep of all the merc units substantially, but that's about it.

Re: Adding a penalty to hiring mercenaries
I think it's a property of the mercenaries, not of the nation itself. The mercenary groups containing Inquisitor/High Inquisitor and Marignonese units costs less for Marignon, Eternal Guards are very expensive for LA Ermor, etc. At the moment, there's no way to mod mercenary groups, we can only mod the units that are mercenaries.

Yes its the merc groups.
Some merc groups charge pangaea more, and some charge pangaea less. I believe that originally it was supposed to done so that every nation had some mercs that liked you and some that didnt, but like many of the individualized-per-nation items it still has some work to be done.

Re: Adding a penalty to hiring mercenaries
they all charge Pangaea an arm and leg. What ones give Pangaea a discount? I know some races get discounts, but Pangaea pays a steep premium on all or almost all of the mercs.
In any event, i do not need to know how to do this now, because i toned down Beowulf so he cannot consistently take provinces solo.
