I just thought it was amusing, relative to the Crysis quote above. I don't really care if SE:V uses the same graphics engine as Minesweeper, as long as it's fun.

Some objects are already represented like flat objects such as fighters during combat. I've never played at the lower detail levels, so I'm not sure the other models are hedged for low detail. Regarding the combat replay, I haven't use it for any large battles, but one of the other testers might be able to give some indication of replay vs. actual combat graphics performance.
Thats good to know. Are fighters always drawn as flat objects in spacecombat, or do they use the 3d models when you zoom in? I seem to recall some screenshots (of groundcombat) with what seems like 3d models in them.

I'm asking because I'm working on a shipset and I've made sure my unit models are very low polygon (around 40 polygons for satellites and mines) I still have to do the fighters, and I'm wondering if I should use the same restrictions for them.
