Default Fleet Training

When I originally played SEIV, I did not pay much attention to fleet training, as I mis-understood its purpose (I thought it had more to do w. online games). When I read about SEV and came on this Board to get more info, I noticed my mistake over fleet training. Question. Would a good way to handle fleet training be to build cheap ships as "Fleet Flag Ships"-- a fast, inexpensive ship that has a unique name like "Fleet Flag Ship West" and leave it parked over a training facility in a similarly named Fleet? Have a number of these so you could have Fleets ready to go w. training? If this has been covered, my apologies.

Bob

If you mean to have a dozen ready trained 1 ship fleets ready for use, it is simple. Just create a dozen 1 ship fleets and park them over a planet with training center. Any ship in the fleet will suffice. You can change the ship later. The experience of the fleet doesn't disappear even if you change all the ships within the fleet. Just, remember always to have at least one ship in the fleet. If you remove all ships away from the fleet, it cease to exists, therefore, all experience vanishing.

Yes. In fact you can even use mothballed ships to hold these fleets. The mothballed ship won't get any experience because it is mothballed, but the fleet will get "trained" just the same. This is kinda an exploit, but who cares.

Yeah, it works that way...but I don't like doing it in things like multiplayer games since it feels rather gamey.

Even gamier is building three training facilities in one sector (planet and two moons) for triple-speed training (hey, it's just an accelerated training course!).

Would it be possible to mod the game to replace the fleet training bonus with a special component? Call it a "flag bridge" or "combat control center" or some such. I understand there's already a component that confers one ship's experience on an entire fleet, but this one would give a fleet a fixed bonus depending on component level.

It just seems like a nice way to give fleets real "flagships" (fleet "training" isn't associated with any one ship). It also seems like a good way to help the AI make better use of fleet-level bonuses.
