Default OT-Book/Movie help

(I would post this in the appropriate forum, but no one seems to GO there, so..)

I've got an essay to do for a geography class (so much for it being an easy filler class ;-))

Anyway, it requires reading a book/watching a film and making a map of the places that are important, amoung other things. I have to pick from a set list. Problem: I've never heard of most of these! Beyond that, I figure if I have to do this, I might as well find one that doesn't stink.

I've narrowed it down a bit, to:
-Platoon
-AO Huckllberry Finn (mainly because I already OWN the book)
-The Great Gatsby (see above)
-Fargo
-Dances with Wolves
-Raiders of the Lost Ark (no, I haven't seen this)
-Crocodile Dundee
-Thin Red Line

There are lots of other, but these are the ones I have at least heard of. Just to make this interesting, it's one per person first come first serve.

Help finding a decent one is appriciated, but don't go bumping this a week from now, too late by then, all the good stuff will be gone. (and I'd be stuck with, say, Hawaii which I've heard things about. Things like, it's so long and boring having your teeth pulled without drugs is better)

Raiders, this remains one of my favorite movies to date. And while your at it, go get the sequels (temple of Doom, Last crusade)....Indy rocks!! (and heck, its basicly Han Solo without the StarWars!)..

(but thats just my choice...though I do hear good things about Platoon, though I've never seen it...)

Raiders of the Lost Ark. It already /has/ maps of most of the important places, so it's pretty easy to make a map from that. As a matter of fact, if you're handy with that pause button, making a map of all the important areas in Raiders is about as hard as making a map of all the important places in The Hobbit.

All you need is an Atlas, tracing paper, and a steady hand, or a photocopier.

Raiders is great, it is where they got the whole Tomb Raider idea, but I still prefer Indy.

One thing to be aware of, the movie is fiction and some of the locations are fiction. The final scenes with the ark and the cliffs look like they were filmed in Petra, Jordon, but they dont really pin it down, as it is a mythical location. Going with Platoon would be simpler (less locations) and going with a book would be the simplest, no need to pause. However, the book will take you longer. Just be happy they didnt give you Around the World in 80 Days, that would have taken a while to sort out, even if it was easy.

Thin Red Line.

Book is worth the read and it only takes place on 1 to 2 islands in the pacific.

If you like war books then this one will surprise you. Never read a war book like the thin red line.

Movie is good as well

The other choices are good as well

Great Gabsy is a classic.

OT.

I have the Indy soundtrack and kids reader on lp.

Thanks for the help.

I've gotten the impression that there are two Versions of Thin Red Line. The selection here is the movie Version, and it's from like 1970, make in Italy..

Fargo is a really good movie, and IIRC only takes place in North Dakota and Minnesota.
