Lost my arial
Hi guys
this has little to do with Shrapnel but as I know most you'se know your PC's pretty well, I thought maybe you could help me
It would appear my Arial font has vanished! Now everything on my PC that was Arial is now either Arial Itallic or Bold
Allmost all the internet pages, most of my documents for uni and many more important things relating to games have gone all odd on me
What to do?
Cheers guys
Rich

Re: Lost my arial
Check out your Windows/fonts directory for a font called arial.ttf. It should be there, and should work automatically unless it has been corrupted. If you find it there, try running Scandisk to make sure it isn't corrupted. You might also try making sure your virus scanner is up to date. I haven't heard of a font-infecting virus (anybody else out there remember ANSI bombs?) but there's a world of things I haven't heard of. <g>
If you have lost it, I can send it to you. It's always supplied with an installation of Windows, so I can't believe there'd be any legal issues involving with helping replace your copy for you. Just let me know.

Re: Lost my arial
Thanks guys,
I ran scandisk and then it just reappeared! Very odd and at the time quite annoying but now it seems to be fixed.
Thanks again Psi

Re: Lost my arial
Just guessing, but it sounds like your FAT may have become corrupted. The HD maintains back-up copies, from which is presumably restored your proper directory contents.
It's an odd event . . . but if all is well, all is well. Have you had any other anomalies with your system recently?

Re: Lost my arial
My PC gets a little churlish at times but nothing massive. It has the occasional DLL error but my warranty people keep passing the buck so to speak
I really wish I knew more about PC's so I could make it work properly!
