Re: New Project: a Player Guide: basic and expert!
Wow ... a lot of idea and collaborations ... about the wiki it could be nice, I could try to read how to do it and try when I'll be back.
At the moment (during my holidays) I'll try to write something, about some of the rules and after that I'll post it to everyone would like to partecipate in the projct, just to have an idea of what I'm trying to do ... I'll let out all the sections concerning strategies (taht I hope you could fill) becouse I'm not really a good player and I think my strategies are not the best!
thank you and send me as much as you can by email at liga(AT)treemme(DOT)org so I know what there is to do and what is already done!
good play to all

Re: New Project: a Player Guide: basic and expert!
Great idea guys! Thanks for working on this. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of Boron's "domes/strategic attacks" guide as well.
Thanks in advance, and keep us posted on how it's going and display your working copies once in awhile.
Thx,
John

Re: New Project: a Player Guide: basic and expert!
I'm starting writing down the structure of teh guide ... since it must be, at first, a newbies help, I'm thinking about organize it in section like the game menus ... so:
Part 1: The Game
1. Creating a God
2. Creating a Gmae
3. Playing a Game
-3.1 The top right Menu (I have to find something better)
-3.2 The mid right menu (I have to find something better)
--3.2.1 Province Info
--3.2.2 Army Setup
--3.2.3 Mercenary
--3.2.4 Recruting Units
-3.3 Buildings and Magic Sites
-3.4 Province Description
--3.4.1 Nation Details
---3.4.1.1 Tresury
---3.4.1.2 Income
---3.4.1.3 Upkeep
--3.4.2 Province Details
---3.4.1.1 Population
---3.4.1.2 Income and Resources
---3.4.1.3 Unrest
---3.4.1.4 Taxes
---3.4.1.5 Supplies
---3.4.1.6 Corpes
---3.4.1.7 Dominion
--3.4.3 Province defence
-3.5 Leader and Units
-3.6 Processing the Turn
4. Network Games
5. Preference
I skip map edit
Part 2: Details
1. Races and Themes
2. Pretenders (I'm not really sure about that)
3. Dominion (using most of the nice Ceremony work)
4. Battles
...
It still under work but I think in that way coule be easy to find the informations
good play

Re: New Project: a Player Guide: basic and expert!
I'd like to help contribute, if that would be helpful. I would be particularly interested in
- contributing information for "newbie" orientation ("from newbies to newbies")
- helping to tweak some language usage if the need for a native speaker should rear its head
great idea liga!

Re: New Project: a Player Guide: basic and expert!
Any kind of help is welcome ... as you have noticed english is not my native language ... I could write quickly in a bad english ... it will take me a lot of time (sometimes close to the age of the univerese) to write a good english ... so, if you could check and improve the text in the guide you will be welcome.
I'll post the starting Version of the Guide when I'll be back from holidays and than we could try to work together to make it better.
Also your efforts for newbies for newbies sections will be great ... I must admit you was one of the lights shining in my newbies days ...
finally it could be really nice to have someone (Kristoffer??) involved in making a short chapter about the history of the World before the Ascension Wars ... something could be inferred reading races and thems description but it will be great to put all in a chapter ...
thank uou and good play

Liga, as I did for your manual addenda doc, I'm willing to help you with editing. Feel free to send me whatever you need tweaked as an email attachment (as you did with the addenda's raw .RTF).

Re: New Project: a Player Guide: basic and expert!
This is a great project Liga !!!
I've looked at the screenshots, and perhaps it's not a good idea to use non-standard skins/flags ?
It might very well confuse a newbie if the graphics doesn't corresponde EXACTLY to the standard out-of-the-box Illwinter look.
And I hope that Kristoffer will share some of his thoughts on the history of the dom2 world. By the way, is there a map that reflects the "original" dom2 world with all the nations in the "proper" places etc ?

that was a choice ... since is not an ufficial guide but a guide for players by players I would prefer to use as much as possible players materials ... anyway, if someone could make the shots again it will be easy just to use something else

I hope so ... but I know the devs has a lot to do with the ufficial games ... I was looking for some players good in storytelling ...
... and Arryn, of course I would like your help ... the revision you have made of the manual addenda was excellent ... as soon as I have something ...
I have put in the
http://arrakis.unimo.it/~ligabue/dom2/docs/new-manual
folder an example of the manual, both in world and open-office formats ...
