Default Some Newbie questions...

I just heard about Dominions Last week and started playing the demo. I'm using a walkthru I found here:

http://www.maladjustite.com/dom2_walkthru.html

Great for someone who never played the game by the way. That PDF that comes with the demo told me nothing. But I have a few questions and comments:

What is a "Death Match" and how do I send a champion to it?

What is up with these proclamations? "Noemon the Centaur Commander shall hereby be known as the prophet of Urbuthre". I don't give a &^$&*^%*!! Or should I??

Can you change the names of your commanders? It seems to give default names to everyone and they mean absolutely nothing to me and I keep having to click to see what kind of troop each one is. I remember basically what a Jarl is, but the name given to the specific commander....?

Even more....I stacked a BUNCH of troops (about 25 - hey it's a lot for a newbie playing with giants!) with a commander named Eitre...a few turns later I recruited a priest with the same name and didn't notice (he had no troops). Guess which one I sent into battle to take a province? I got upset and thought that the entire army was killed or dispelled or something when I lost the battle! (my video card is old and runs battles at 1.266 fps so I've just been looking at the results)

What is a "Super Combatant"? Is that an "official" designation or something people just call units that are "really powerful"?

What is a "theme"?

Thanks in advance.

Darryl

"What is a "Death Match" and how do I send a champion to it?"

IIRC it should be fairly obvious when it happens, like a "send champion" button.

"What is up with these proclamations? "Noemon the Centaur Commander shall hereby be known as the prophet of Urbuthre". I don't give a &^$&*^%*!! Or should I??"

You should. In the case of this, it means at that commander to your list of Bad Guys to Kill, since he just got a lot stronger and will now spread your opponents dominion.

"Can you change the names of your commanders? It seems to give default names to everyone and they mean absolutely nothing to me and I keep having to click to see what kind of troop each one is. I remember basically what a Jarl is, but the name given to the specific commander....?"

Unfortunatetly not.

"What is a "Super Combatant"? Is that an "official" designation or something people just call units that are "really powerful"?"

The latter.

"What is a "theme"?"

A set variation you can apply to your nation when creating it, ex Ulm's Iron Faith. Gennerally has interesting effects you can't create otherwise.

It can also tell you what theme your opponent is playing. For example, "Deathbane the wraith consul" is a lot more frightening than "Deathbane the Thaumaturg".
