Default How do you play Niefel theme?

They were my main nation in the demo, and they rolled. However, in the later turns in the real game, I am having serious problems. They seem to get wasted by Ermor or anyone that can summon a large number of magical beings, as per unit cost of Jotunheim units makes it impossible to build too many priests (and even mage units). They also seem to be easily overwhelmed by nations with fast, sturdy, powerful knight-type of units like Ulm, Marignon or Man. Help on how to play these guys!

For priests, make temples in priest provinces, and use those - they're 50g each. The other problems - well, I had those too=) Try not being so reliant on Giants; the Jotun units work well too.

I just won my first game with Niefelheim and I think the winning strategy was the way I used cannon fodder to buffer my giants. I set up the Big Guys behind a wall of expendable units, including whatever locally-recruited units I had available. I set the giants to Hold and Attack so that the cheap units took the worst of the enemy rush on the chin, and then the giants came in to clean up.

It helped a LOT with lance-wielding units, plus the combo of smaller units with the larger ones allowed my guys to better surround enemies and thus receive the bonus for consecutive attacks in a turn.

I also used a lot of summoned creatures and think I probably should have used even more. Ice Drakes proved especially effective since my "real" troops (the Jotuns and kin) weren't bothered by any stray drake-breath drifting around.
