the thing is, i actually rather enjoy some of the suggestions, and think they'd add an interesting dimenson to a game like the SE Series.
in particuar i'm fond of the concept of "bad intel" that does more then just say "we don't know", but rather tells us we know something when we don't. Imagine thinking that fleet is in Kylata when it's really not.
Or, likewise, having a population that could respond to "non military" deaths (ie, you glass a planet full of nothing but monoliths and a robot factory, and your populace gets upset). or if there was a chance of your occupying force commiting some random atrocity (or producing usable intel).
