Default Shipsets...an area of confusion for me!

I am confused about shipsets.

For 4 months I have been playing 4 PBW games where the avatar of some players keep changing from turn to turn.

I do know I have to download shipsets for the players whose avatars keep changing.

And that is the extent of my knowledge. I have no idea how to do it, where to put them etc.

So, can someone tell me in easy to do steps, what I need to do to get and install the required shipsets.

Please treat me as an utter greenhorn in this. I really have little idea how to do it.

Download the set.

Extract it in the SE4/Pictures/Races folder.

If using a mod that uses it's own pictures, you extract it in the [mod directory name]/pictures/races folder.

If you are really confused, just ask that player what shipset they are using. Sometimes they have also modified a shipset or simply have it in a differently-named directory. On a PBW game, they may have forgotten to post their shipset on the game's page.

Thanks guys

This is so simple, I should have asked the question sooner.

Time for Newbie question #2

When we create an empire [New game/Players/Add New], we have a number of Race Portrait/Ship Styles to choose from.

But only the pictures are given. There doesn't seem to be a corresponding name given for the race or the shipset.

So how do we get the name of the race and the shipset?

if you are creating a new race and want to use an existing shipset then you would have to type in the empire name and any other info listed.

if you want to use an existing race then instead of add new use add existing and it will give you the name of the race, but unfortunately doesnt list the pictures for that race.

edit: if you want to look at the race shipsets the best way would be to look at them directly.
go to the pictures then races subdirectories (c:\seivg\pictures\races) and it will list the races with their shipsets and portraits.

You can add an existing race empire, then click on the edit button to view/change the details of that empire.
