Actually all software companies are watching the market carefully in the area of Digital Download. There is plenty of information available about its pros and cons. Particularly if you are talking about DD without adding additional DRM.
And Shrapnel does have DD games. So they do have some in-house statistics also. I see this in many of the forums here when this subject comes up. You make it sound like this is the only game Shrapnel sells.
So I dont really see why THIS particular game would have to go DD for Shrapnel to see if it would be a good idea. In fact this would seem to be one of the least likely to be used as a test. They might decide to but I dont think it will be as a "we will see" experiment.
