Bit of an odd situation.
Tharsonius, playing Ermor, turned himself AI without a word to us, and vanished last turn in the Elli game. I PM'd him asking about it, and he read it (I received the receipt) almost two full days ago now. He's obviously not going to bother to respond. Bit of a pisser, but...the three other remaining players have decided not to let him get away with it! (If possible.) Llamabeast can turn the clock back for us to last turn, before he went AI, and so we are looking for a permanent sub for Ermor.
This will be a little different than the usual type of subbing; since the original player has gone awol, all we can tell you is what is 'publicly' known about Ermor at this time. Still, Ermor is in a very good position, and has a strong chance of winning the game. Anyone interested in playing around with late-game strategies without all the fuss and bother of fighting to get there should jump at this chance! ; )
We are at Turn 63. Ermor owns around 30 out of 107 provinces, and is (in my opinion) in either first or second place for winning the game. There are only three other players left: Caelum (me), Atlantis (Sensori --> DryaUnda), and Arcosephale (MartialDoctor).
Ermor has been at peace for around ten turns now, after defeating Lanka in a bitter-looking war. The two weakest players (Caelum and Atlantis) have declared war on Arcosephale, leaving Ermor lots of choices atm. Ermor has 3 of the 5 globals slots currently filled: Gift of Health, Well of Misery, and Stellar Focus. My (Caelum's) spies keep getting slaughtered in his lands. Annoying, that.
Graphs are off, so I can't tell you how well his research, army, income, etc is compared to everyone else. He's probably doing well, but I can't help but wonder how much management he's been doing in his turns; he did just flick the AI switch and vanish without warning last turn...
Torin, who played Marverni and was defeated by Arco around mid-game, wrote a detailed account of his experiences that may provide some useful information. It can be downloaded
here. The Elli game thread itself starts
here.
If Dryaunda or MartialDoctor can think of anything to add, I'm sure they'll chime in. I'll extend the timer for the current turn to 72 hours or so, to give the replacement a chance to examine the nation. After that we should be on 48 hour quickhost again, and back on track.
I look forward to defeating Ermor's replacement! ; )
