OT: Dune Series On Audio CD

As a belated X-mas gift my mom bought me the Dune Series on CD Rom at a garage sale. I am listening to it now....... OMG I can barely keep my eyes open. The story is so heavily depthed in description that you easily loose track of the characters and story line. This depth is great, but my God is it ever boring.

I take it that he was paid per word and not per book.
