Dispelling Spells

I'm sure this is rather basic. But how does one dispel an enemy enchantment or other spell? (For some reason, the spellbook in the manual appears not to have an alphabetical order index. (I would love it if they would add an index even if I had to download it and print it out.)

I take it that curses cannot be gotten rid of at all?
