Re: Tell us about yourself!
I think my generation (I'm 40) is different from the past as far as game playing.
We grew up with child's games (Monopoly, Life) but also we were at the beginning of the computer revolution.
For a small group of people in the past, adult board games (Avalon Hill, etc...) kept them playing games far into adulthood but with computer games being so available and powerful, many adults can now play mature games on the computer, instead of just the Avalon Hill type board games, so there are a lot more older gamers because of this.
I bought a few Avalon Hill Bookgames when I was younger because I loved the hardcore rules but I never actually played them so now I can play hardcore games on the computer.
There are a lot more games targeted to older gamers (Uncommon Valor, etc...) so that has kept the adults playing.
Also, when I was young I loved reading about new worlds and fantasy realms and now get to visit them as an adult in RPG's.
It's a great hobby. In moderation!
