Maintenance cost % oddness
I wanted to reduce the maintenance cost percentage from 25% to 10%, so I went in to the Settings.txt and changed "Empire Starting Percent Maint Cost" to 10 (it was 25).
But this doesn't seem to have worked. Checking two current designs I have:
Scout ship:
Build cost: 3210,100,300
Maint cost: 759, 22, 66
Perc. cost: 23.6,22, 22
Colony ship:
Build cost: 5000,1100,1250
Maint cost: 1067, 242, 275
Perc. cost: 21.3, 22, 22
Now this is quite odd, in particular because the mineral maintenance % doesn't match the organic/radiation ones for either ship. (And of course, why isn't the % around 10% like I set in the file?)
Something seems a bit broken here. I'm pretty sure that I had set a +12% maintenance cost reduction using racial points, which can explain the 22% in two different ways. Either the standard maintenance cost is still 25% (ignoring my change in Settings.txt), and the 22% is due to a 12% reduction to the 25% cost (25 * 0.88 = 22). Or the setting is 10% as I set it in the file, and my 12% cost reduction is actually resulting in +12% to the maintenance cost (10 + 12 = 22). Of course neither of these expalins why the mineral maintenance is 23.6/21.3
I would have expected my actual maintenance percentages to be around 8.8% since it would be the 10% base rate, then that amount reduced by 12%.
Does anyone know how this is supposed to work or if there are some bugs here?
Also, does anyone know what the "Maintenance Cost Amt Per Dead" setting does? It defaults to 20000.
