I mentioned this a long while back, but I noticed that we have a bunch of new people here on the forum recently and that it was not included in the coming patch.
http://www.geocities.com/kuatdy/ If you follow this link and look in the downloads section, you'll find a file named "fixed game fonts" or something similar. The SE4 font files are incomplete and do not support accented characters. This causes interesting effects. For example, I can generate a design name file where every character in every design name uses an accent and the result is that when you see my ships, the design name field appears blank. You can't tell what designs I'm using. I can, but you can't. It makes the enemy designs log useless to you. Also it's kind of rude to prevent European players from using their real names in-game. Andres was kind enough to not replace the fonts, but simply go in and add the missing characters, so you will not notice a difference unless you run into an accented character where normally you'd have seen a blank spot, now you'll see the actual character. I also dropped a link and mention of this in the mods sectiion.
