SE V ground combat

I like the new concept in SE V that during the space combat troops are only landed but the actual ground combat takes place only the next game turn.
Is it correct that you can therefore land all troops from several small troop transporters together on a enemy colony before the ground combat begins?
This would be very good and eliminates one problem you had in SE IV.
