Default Question about movement's effect on accuracy of fire

Hi everyone,
I have a quick question. In terms of fire accuracy, is it better to move the full movement allowance of a firing tank and to have the tank not move the 2nd turn, or is it better to move half the movement allowance the 1st turn, to move half the movement the 2nd turn, to fire after completing the movement?
Thanks for your help,
JP

Good question. IIRC the game manual says that if a unit moves at least half its MPs a flag goes up. It also says that if you don't move on the turn you fire, but moved on the turn before, you're firing on the "half halt." Which is surely better than firing AND moving on that same turn, after moving the turn before.

So to (try to) answer your question, I'd say that you're better off moving full MPs the first turn and none the second, instead of half MPs on each. My experience is that if you move AT ALL before firing accuracy goes down, although going just one or two hexes doesn't affect it too much.

A useful tactic is to pop out of hiding, fire a shot or two (or three, if you've got an experienced crew and MPs remaining) at moderate or longish range, then return to your lair or another suitable hiding place and wait for the next turn. The "reverse" function (hitting the "8" key} can come in handy if you've come out more than one hex, since it keeps your frontal facing while retreating, but it takes more MPs to do that so take care.

If your sure its not going to fire in the first turn including reaction fire then doing all the movement in that turn is far better. Or move to cover one hex away from where you want to be & move just the one hex to take up position the next turn.
There can be no hard & fast rule tactical situation is the main criteria. Move fast when your sure its safe & slow when its not.
As stated above you want to move as little as possible to maintain accuracy, Tanks with stabilisers mainly applies to MBT can push it a bit if they have to. Modern top end tanks with good stabilisers FC etc can actually move a reasonable amount & still be fairly accurate so battles are more fluid rather than shoot n scoot.
