Downloaded new patch several times, each time when selecting the .exe file in order to open the same error message appears: WINVFX8.DLL missing... pse reload, etc... have deleted and re-downloaded several times, still no success. Successfully downloaded new patch for SPMBT a few minutes before without problems. Any suggestions?

See my reply to you in the MBT forum, but this post confirms that you have installed the patch into "thin air" in its new folder and not on top of the original game (and consolidation patch). You now have a folder containing a partial file-set.

That file comes with the original game installer. It is not provided with the consolidation or version 6 patches since it has not ever changed. Its a system file of the third-party graphics engine.

The patches are incremental and additive. They are not stand-alone games!.

You install each one into the original folder, one at a time, on top of each other. Sequentially in order.

First you install the original game file somewhere - see below.
Then you install the consolidated patch file to the exact same place you installed the original game.
Now you apply the version 6 patch by installing it to the exact same path you put the last 2.

If you have Windows vista, 7 or 8 - first read the sticky file on installing in windows vista and 7 that is posted at the top of this forum. The patch files now install to the new recommended vista or more friendly path and not to any old original you may have on an older installer yo may have that pre-dates the change.
